AZURE MIND
Water is something that can be considered the center of life.
Dr. Wallace Nichols’s The Blue Mind Theory suggests that being near and seeing bodies of water help us feel calmer and boost our creativity. Dr. Wallace Nichols states that living near the shore can improve physical health and well-being. Moreover, the sound, color, and feeling of water can lead to a release of positive neurotransmitters that lead to a positive mood and lowers cortisol levels.
Our aim is to use technology to create a similar feeling that nature brings us. We aim to find ways to connect with nature through technology. AZURE MIND plays on the Dr. Wallace Nichols’s Blue Mind theory.
Some video clips are found through natural occurrences that we see everyday: Rainwater, windshield wipers, small ponds that we pass on our daily commute. Through projection mapping, we aimed to recreate this phenomenon of awe that humans naturally gravitate to.
For this project, I worked with Lucy Purvis since we were both interested in exploring projection mapping and the idea of water being a connecting force between human life.
